Forbes just announced that Rihanna is officially the wealthiest female musician in the world.
With a Fenty Beauty cosmetics company worth an estimated $1.4 billion and with her net worth at $1.7 billion, Rihanna is one of the most commercially successful artists in modern music.
The rest of her wealth generally comes from the lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, worth an estimated $270 million, as well as her earnings from music and acting.
She is the world’s richest female entertainer, second only to Oprah Winfrey.
In 2017, Rihanna launched her line of makeup named Fenty Beauty in partnership with luxury goods company LVMH.
Rihanna’s line, Fenty Beauty, was the first major beauty company to launch 40 different foundation shades. The range of cosmetics caused a “Fenty Effect” where rival brands were pressured into broadening their shade ranges for make-up products in fear that Rihanna would overtake them with her innovative approach to makeup and color options.
LVMH said that the line was an instant success, bringing in more than $550 million in its first year.
However, not all of Rihanna’s business ventures have paid off!
Earlier this year she closed down Fenty fashion after less than two years in production following an agreement to do so with LVMH.
Rihanna is one of the few singers to have sold more than 250 million records, although she has not released a studio album since 2016’s Anti.
However, she and boyfriend A$AP Rocky were recently spotted shooting a music video.
