Football superstar Lionel Messi has signed a two-year contract with Paris St-Germain, after leaving Barcelona.
The 34-year-old Argentine’s new contract with Paris St Germain will last for two years and includes a third-year option.
Lionel Messi has departed from his career at Barcelona – the only club he had ever played for. This decision came after Barcelona was unable to afford a new contract under La Liga’s financial fair play rules.
“I am impatient to start a new chapter of my career in Paris. The club and its vision are in perfect harmony with my ambitions,” said the Argentina star”.
He added; “I know how talented the players and staff are here. I am determined to build, alongside them, something great for the club and for the fans. I can’t wait to set foot on the Parc des Princes pitch”.
PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi said, “I am delighted that Lionel Messi has chosen to join Paris St-Germain and we are proud to welcome him with his family”.
“He did not hide his desire to continue to evolve at the highest level and to win trophies. The ambition of the club is of course identical”.

Lionel Messi is considered one of the greatest players of all time. The star striker scored a record 672 goals in 778 games for FC Barcelona, joining as a 13-year-old and playing with the club until this day. He has won six Ballon d’Ors, lifting 35 trophies along the way; there’s no doubt that he will go down in history as an absolute legend!
He becomes PSG’s fourth free-transfer signing this summer after the arrivals of Georginio Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma. Not to forget Morocco’s highly rated right back Achraf Hakimi who also joined from Inter Milan.
Messi could make his Paris Saint-Germain debut at home to Strasbourg on Saturday, as the Argentine superstar will play in a front three alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
